BMC Showcases

In 2008, one of the most asked questions was, “how do I perform at the Boston Music Conference Showcases”? We understand how important it is for artists to showcase their talent and have expanded that portion of the conference to accommodate a greater number of requests.

The 2009 BMC Showcases will be held at the Roxy Tremont Ballroom in downtown Boston on Thursday, September 24 from 7 to 10. There will be major label A&Rs present as well as top music industry executives. Your performance will be judged and the winner will receive recognition as well as prizes. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to showcase your work in front of the people who can change you career. You will receive positive and constructive feedback as well. There are strict rules to follow for the performance, and they are provided below.

There are two ways to enter the 2009 Boston Music Conference Showcases. The first is by winning a merit-based spot via Sonicbids. Visit www.sonicbids.com/bmc2009 and submit your music. There is a $10 processing fee. We guarantee that all entries will be heard and evaluated in order to determine the top ten, or your fee will be returned. The top ten will be selected by September 10th, 2009. You will be notified if you were selected to perform at the 2009 Boston Music Conference Showcase. There is no additional fee for the performance, but you must have registered for the conference to enter.

There are 15 additional spots that are first come first served and are $75 for a single artist, and $100 for more than one artist, up to 5 onstage. When these spots are full, there will be no additional spaces. These will sell out very rapidly, and there is no way to secure additional spaces when they are full. To secure a place, submit your music to bostonmusicconference@gmail.com. Your music will be reviewed, if you are selected to perform, then you will be notified and can pay at that time.

Showcase Rules:

1. You must have registered and received a valid BMC ticket. This is in addition to securing your showcase spot.
2. You may perform one song that can be up to 5 minutes long. Please do not attempt to sing a second song, or do a medley of more than one. You will be cut off, and lose valuable time that you could be receiving feedback from the judges. Select your strongest song and best of luck!
3. At 6:00 the doors will open you will see a sheet of the times that each person is slated to perform. Note your time and be ready to perform then. If you fail to be present or if your entire group is not present, you will lose your spot.
4. After you sign in at the front to confirm your performance, give your CD to be played to the person there who will give them to the DJ. Do NOT bring a CD that is not labeled. Write your name or your group’s name clearly in marker on the CD. Bring a back up to be safe.
